How You Can Use Food To Clean Home Items

1. Cleaning Toilet Bowl with Cola

Pour a can of cola into your toilet bowl, let it sit for around 2 hours or overnight for a better results. Then flush it and give it a good scrub after. The acidity in cola is high enough to dissolve stains, and the result – a clean and shiny toilet bowl.

2. Cleaning Barbecue Grills with Onions

Onions are known to be a powerful natural antiseptic that kills bacteria. Heat the grill first, stic half of an onion onto the end of the grilling fork and rub it against the grill. The onion effectively loosen up baked on grit and grime and ultimately you can take it off the grill easily.

3. Clean Cutting Boards with Lemon and Salt

Cutting boards need to be cleaned and disinfected regularly. Lemon can help to kill bacteria, sanitise and get rid of odor from the cutting board while salt can scrub the surface clean. Simply sprinkle coarse salt all over the cutting board, take a half lemon and give it a good scrub.

4. Remove Rust with Potato

If your trusty pots and pans develop rust over time, a simple and effective way to remove these rusts is to use a potato. Potatoes contain oxalic acid, which helps to break down the rust. Simply cut it into half, dip it in baking soda or liquid detergent and firmly rub it over the rusted area. If the end of the potato gets slick, slice it off and dip the newly cut end. Repeat until rust is removed and then rinse and dry. Your favorite pots and pans will regain its beauty.

5. Remove Stubborn Labels and Stickers with Peanut Butter

No matter how hard you try, peeling off labels or price tags are always unsuccessful because you will be left with the ugly gummy leftovers on the surfaces. But peanut butter can do the trick! Smear a thick layer of peanut butter onto the sticker residue, let it sit for a few hours before taking a cloth and wipe it off. The fat content will soften the adhesive, and you’ll be able to rub the sticker residue right off!
